| 94 | 3rd gg to Robert Allen Romine so have strong DNA evidence to support this line. According to the document written by William Bethel Romine in 1930 Layton married twice. First to a woman of the name Canterbury and was from Pennsylvania. He says they likely moved to Eastern Tennesse soon after the Revolutionary way which ended 3 Sep 1983 He further states that Layton had 24 children that lived to adulthood and 2 that died earlier. He believes (not certain) that children by first wife are: James, Peter, Sam, William, Susan, Molly, and Mary. By second wife: Henry, Jane, John, George, Thomas, Raleigh, David, Abel, Tabitha, Rebecca, Betty, Job, Riley, Jasper. Other than the find-a-grave posting there is no evidence that his first name was Thomas so I removed it. The Find-a-grave posting has no tombstone so is not really a source. I do not know whom wife Mary Dammembren is. Appears to have been transfered from another family tree. Removed as spouse. Both marriages are claimed to be in Sevier County, Tennessee so expect Census to be in same place. However, note that Sevier was not formed until 1794 so marriage to Elizabeth Canterbury would have to be elsewhere (maybe Green or Hawkins County?) 1856 Fire damaged courthouse records. Lost censuses: 1800, 1810, 1820 Lost marriage records: 1794 to 1855 Lost probate records: 1794 to 1848 1810 census records for Tennessee were burned by the British during the war of 1812 1830 Sevier County, Tennessee male 5-9 male 5-9 male 10-14 male 15-19 male 20-29 male 60-69 Layton (64) female 5-9 female 10-14 female 40-49 Mary Elizabeth Foster (45) nearby neighbors Frank Foster, John Romine | Romine, Layton (I142346558952)

| 97 | A hint found for Christopher Romeyn, James brother, seems to fit James better, but I cannot figure out how to attach the information to James. According to the records found in: New Jersey, U.S., Births and Christenings Index, 1660-1931 A Romeyn son of Jacobus was baptized in 1774. While this hint came up under Christopher Romeyn I suspect it is actually his brother, James Romeyn. | Romeyn, James (I142346558928)
| 98 | A previous "disconnected" entry for James Romine's wife, Elizabeth Middleton suggested the following additional children. Some of these came from the Ancestry member trees hint, but with any verification. Elizabeth Cynthia Ann John W Robert The disconnected Elizabeth and descendants were removed from the tree on 20240219 by Jim Romine | Romine, James (I142346558933)
